Castle of El Papiol
The Papiol Castle is documented in a parchment by Ramon Berenguer III, Count of Barcelona. But there are quite a few clues in the construction that point to earlier parts.
In 1395, King Juan I sold Berenguer de Cortilles the direct and allodial domain of the term and the Papiol Castle. The new lord ceded, that same year, all the domain and jurisdiction to Ramon Despapiol. In 1505 the Papiol barony passed to the Marimons and then to the Guimeràs, who sold it to the merchant Francesc Argemir. Subsequently, it still came into other hands. Its current owners are the Admirals.
The construction has a rectangular floor plan and is made up of several bodies from different periods. The oldest part is on the ground floor.
Inside there is the tomb of Galzeran Despapiol, a lord of the castle who fought in many battles under the orders of Jaime II the Just.
