El Papiol

El Papiol is a residential town, located 15 kilometres from Barcelona, which offers a great range of cultural activities. Located on a mountainous platform, it offers marvellous panoramic views of the region, especially from the highest part of the town, where one of the main attractions is located, the 10th century castle, which is surrounded by the old town. Other attractions are the “Escletxes” or crevasses in the rocky massif, of great geological interest; the quartz and fluorite mines; and the Romanesque hermitage of La Salut (9th and 10th centuries), within Collserola park, in an area ideal for trekking or bike routes.
